    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!...

    There are a lot of celebrations around the country today in honor of our independence, which has inspired a lot of tea parties as well.  One sign that someone was holding up read, "If I don't pay my taxes, can I have a cabinet position?"  Genius!
     
    I wanted to post the complete text of the U.S. Constitution.  I'm wondering if what is written here is what was originally stated in the U.S. Constitution (in its entirety).  Because we have such a corrupt government, it wouldn't surprise me if they "changed" the wording through the years (think "amendments") to suit their own purposes.  Overall, this should be mandatory reading for every politician BEFORE they get into office so they won't lose sight of what the U.S. Constitution represents.  It is the foundation that America was founded on; it is what made America into a great country, and it is what will keep it that way...

    The Constitution of the United States

    Here is the complete text of the U.S. Constitution. The original spelling and capitalization have been retained.

     

    We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

    Article I

    Section 1. All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

    Section 2. The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.

    No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

    Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct. The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative; and until such enumeration shall be made, the State of New Hampshire shall be entitled to chuse three, Massachusetts eight, Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations one, Connecticut five, New-York six, New Jersey four, Pennsylvania eight, Delaware one, Maryland six, Virginia ten, North Carolina five, South Carolina five, and Georgia three.

    When vacancies happen in the Representation from any State, the Executive Authority thereof shall issue Writs of Election to fill such Vacancies.

    The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.

    Section 3. The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof, for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote.

    Immediately after they shall be assembled in Consequence of the first Election, they shall be divided as equally as may be into three Classes. The Seats of the Senators of the first Class shall be vacated at the Expiration of the second Year, of the second Class at the Expiration of the fourth Year, and the third Class at the Expiration of the sixth Year, so that one third may be chosen every second Year; and if Vacancies happen by Resignation, or otherwise, during the Recess of the Legislature of any State, the Executive thereof may make temporary Appointments until the next Meeting of the Legislature, which shall then fill such Vacancies.

    No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

    The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

    The Senate shall chuse their other Officers, and also a President pro tempore, in the Absence of the Vice President, or when he shall exercise the Office of President of the United States.

    The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

    Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of Honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

    Section 4. The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

    The Congress shall assemble at least once in every Year, and such Meeting shall be on the first Monday in December, unless they shall by Law appoint a different Day.

    Section 5. Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller Number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.

    Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

    Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy; and the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal.

    Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.

    Section 6. The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

    No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time: and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.

    Section 7. All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

    Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; if he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by Yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.

    Every Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and House of Representatives may be necessary (except on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States; and before the Same shall take Effect, shall be approved by him, or being disapproved by him, shall be repassed by two thirds of the Senate and House of Representatives, according to the Rules and Limitations prescribed in the Case of a Bill.

    Section 8. The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

    To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

    To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

    To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

    To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

    To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

    To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

    To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

    To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

    To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations;

    To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

    To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

    To provide and maintain a Navy;

    To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

    To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

    To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

    To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;--And

    To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

    Section 9. The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

    The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

    No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

    No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.

    No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.

    No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another: nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged to enter, clear or pay Duties in another.

    No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.

    No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

    Section 10. No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

    No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection Laws: and the net Produce of all Duties and Imposts, laid by any State on Imports or Exports, shall be for the Use of the Treasury of the United States; and all such Laws shall be subject to the Revision and Controul of the Congress.

    No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

    Article II

    Section 1. The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:

    Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

    The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President.

    The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

    No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

    In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.

    The President shall, at stated Times, receive for his Services, a Compensation, which shall neither be encreased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that Period any other Emolument from the United States, or any of them.

    Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

    Section 2. The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

    He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

    The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

    Section 3. He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

    Section 4. The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

    Article III

    Section 1. The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services, a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.

    Section 2. The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;--to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;--to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;--to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;--to Controversies between two or more States;--between a State and Citizens of another State;--between Citizens of different States;--between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.

    In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

    The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment, shall be by Jury; and such Trial shall be held in the State where the said Crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any State, the Trial shall be at such Place or Places as the Congress may by Law have directed.

    Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

    The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

    Article IV

    Section 1. Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records, and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

    Section 2. The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

    A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on Demand of the executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.

    No Person held to Service or Labour in one State, under the Laws thereof, escaping into another, shall, in Consequence of any Law or Regulation therein, be discharged from such Service or Labour, but shall be delivered up on Claim of the Party to whom such Service or Labour may be due.

    Section 3. New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

    The Congress shall have Power to dispose of and make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States; and nothing in this Constitution shall be so construed as to Prejudice any Claims of the United States, or of any particular State.

    Section 4. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

    Article V

    The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

    Article VI

    All Debts contracted and Engagements entered into, before the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be as valid against the United States under this Constitution, as under the Confederation.

    This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwith-standing.

    The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

    Article VII

    The Ratification of the Conventions of nine States, shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution between the States so ratifying the Same.

    Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth

    'GOD AND COUNTRY': A POSITIVE DOCUMENTARY ABOUT OUR MILITARY...

     
    While most media consistently showcases our military in a negative light, I found it refreshing that one filmmaker chose to focus on the real positive actions of our military.  It's a known fact that American troops have a long and noble tradition of humanitarian service throughout the world.  This inspired a documentary by Scott Mactavish entitled, "God and Country" which profiles these heroes and their missions, and reveals a side of the military rarely mentioned in the mainstream media. 
     
    Here's a brief story on this documentary DVD is now available.  This is one DVD that should be in everyone's collection.  May God continue to bless our military, our freedom they fight for every day, and may God continue to Bless America and its allies...

    God and Country is just one of many Scott Mactavish projects. Not only did he make the film give people a glimpse behind the scenes of the military, he is also using the proceeds to help families of deployed troops.

    When former Veteran Scott Mactavish set out to work on his latest project, he had a couple of ideas in mind. He wanted tell to a story of someone who exemplified character, and he also wanted to focus on the military's humanitarian efforts.

    "The one thing that's important to me is that the public needs to understand how little these people make for their sacrifice. They're over there putting their life on the line; they re-enlist, they want to go back and they believe in the mission," said Mactavish.

    "God and Country" takes the audience into the life of fallen marine Brad Arms. Arms was a graduate of the Covenant School in Charlottesville and a U.S. Marine that lost his life in the battle of Fallujah.

    "When you see the story of Brad Arms and how he courageously went into battle, know that his job was very dangerous and very difficult. Still, he believed so passionately in the mission, it really hammers home how noble our men and women are," said Mactavish.

    With Independence Day right around the corner, Mactavish thought this would be the perfect time to honor our military and show the country just how much they do.

    "We're coming up on a celebration of a country's birthday and our military are our ambassadors overseas. When the international community sees our men and woman doing this good stuff, it's a really positive light that shines on the military," said Mactavish.

    Mactavish hopes after seeing the Brad Arms story that people will have a more positive outlook on the military and the freedom they provide for our country.

    I've been having computer problems and haven't been able to access my computer since Monday.  I think I fixed them, but this is the third time my computer's acted up so I think its days are numbered.  One time it died, I lost everything (before I could back up anything).  My computer's old so I may have to buy another one and charge it.  OUCH!  That's going to hurt, especially since I'm trying to pay down what I owe.  Another bill we don't need right now.  I should probably get one quick, though, before that idiot Deval (or as I call him, Devil) Patrick's sales tax increase goes into effect on August 1st, I believe.  It's going from 5% to 6.25%.  What an idiot!  He's hiking our taxes at a time when we can't even afford it, and he wants to be re-elected.  He probably thinks he's a popular guy, but I have news for him.  He's only a legend in his own mind.  I didn't vote for him the first time, but I don't think the people of Massachusetts will re-elect him if they have any common sense at all.
     
    Funny thing is before I started trying to fix my computer myself, I figured I'd call a computer store to see if I could arrange to bring it in to be looked at.  I wanted to take a picture of the screen with my digital camera and show them what the screen shows, and maybe they could tell me the problem.  I got out my cameraand I'm not making this up—turned it on when all of a sudden the lens kept extending then retracting, extending then retracting...three times, then shut off.  My digital camera no longer works!  What the???  Well, that's not going to be replaced.
     
    Things come in threes so I'm just waiting for the third boulder to drop on my head.  I was determined to fix my computer and maybe I did, but I believe it's only temporary.  At least this time, I was able to back up all all my stuff.  I wanted to post something this week, but it will have to wait until next week...God willing, my computer will still be up and running.  I will post my Friday Funnies to start off the Fourth of July Weekend with a bang.  Have a great Fourth!  Be safe...

    BERNARD MADOFF GETS 150 YEAR SENTENCE...

     
    Justice is being served again (story follows my post).  This time for the despicable scumbag who "made off" with billions from his investors.  May he forever feel the pain and sacrifice he deliberately inflicted on his trusting investors when he swindled them out of their life savings.  He will pay with a life sentence for the life savings he took from them.  I'd say that's a good start, but those people should now take what he has.  Then it would be payment in full...

    NEW YORK - Convicted Wall Street swindler Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison Monday for a fraud so extensive that the judge said he needed to send a message to potential imitators and to victims who demanded harsh punishment.

    Scattered applause and whoops broke out in the crowded Manhattan courtroom after U.S. District Judge Denny Chin issued the maximum sentence to the 71-year-old defendant, who said he lives "in a tormented state now, knowing all the pain and suffering I've created."

    Chin rejected a request by Madoff's lawyer for leniency and said he disagreed that victims of the Ponzi scheme were seeking mob vengeance.

    "Here the message must be sent that Mr. Madoff's crimes were extraordinarily evil and that this kind of manipulation of the system is not just a bloodless crime that takes place on paper, but one instead that takes a staggering toll," Chin said.

    The judge said the estimate that Madoff has cost his victims more than $13 billion was conservative because it did not include money from feeder funds.

    "Objectively speaking, the fraud here was staggering," he said.

    Chin announced the sentence with Madoff standing at the defense table, wearing a dark suit, white shirt and a tie, and looking thinner than his last court appearance in March. He gave no noticeable reaction when the sentence was announced.

    He also showed no emotion earlier in the hearing as he listened to nine victims spend nearly an hour describing their despair. Some openly wept. Others raised their voices in anger.

    "Life has been a living hell. It feels like the nightmare we can't wake from," said Carla Hirshhorn.

    "He stole from the rich. He stole from the poor. He stole from the in between. He had no values," said Tom Fitzmaurice. "He cheated his victims out of their money so he and his wife Ruth could live a life of luxury beyond belief."

    Dominic Ambrosino called it an "indescribably heinous crime" and urged a long prison sentence so "will know he is imprisoned in much the same way he imprisoned us and others."

    He added: "In a sense, I would like somebody in the court today to tell me, how long is my sentence?"

    When asked by the judge whether he had anything to say, Madoff slowly stood, leaned forward on the defense table and spoke in a monotone for about 10 minutes. At various times, he referred to his historic fraud as a "problem," "an error of judgment" and "a tragic mistake."

    He claimed he and his wife were tormented, saying she "cries herself to sleep every night, knowing all the pain and suffering I have caused," he said. "That's something I live with, as well."

    He then finally looked at the victims lining the first row of the gallery.

    "I will turn and face you," he said. "I'm sorry. I know that doesn't help you."

    Afterward, Ruth Madoff — often a target of victims' scorn since her husband's arrest — broke her silence by issuing a statement through her lawyer. She said she, too, had been misled.

    "I am embarrassed and ashamed," she said. "Like everyone else, I feel betrayed and confused. The man who committed this horrible fraud is not the man whom I have known for all these years."

    Prosecutor Lisa Baroni said Madoff deserved a life sentence because he "stole ruthlessly and without remorse."

    The jailed Madoff already has taken a severe financial hit: Last week, a judge issued a preliminary $171 billion forfeiture order stripping Madoff of all his personal property, including real estate, investments and $80 million in assets Ruth Madoff had claimed were hers. The order left her with $2.5 million.

    The terms require the Madoffs to sell a $7 million Manhattan apartment where Ruth Madoff still lives. An $11 million estate in Palm Beach, Fla., a $4 million home on Long Island and a $2.2 million boat will be put on the market, as well.

    Before Madoff became a symbol of Wall Street greed, he earned a reputation as a trusted money manager with a Midas touch. Even as the market fluctuated, clients of his secretive investment advisory business — from Florida retirees to celebrities such as Steven Spielberg, actor Kevin Bacon and Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax — for decades enjoyed steady double-digit returns.

    But late last year, Madoff made a dramatic confession: Authorities say he pulled his sons aside and told them it was "all just one big lie."

    Madoff pleaded guilty in March to securities fraud and other charges, saying he was "deeply sorry and ashamed." He insisted that he acted alone, describing a separate wholesale stock-trading firm run by his sons and brother as honest and legitimate.

    Aside from an accountant accused of cooking Madoff's books, no one else has been criminally charged. But the family, including his wife, and brokerage firms that recruited investors have come under intense scrutiny by the FBI, regulators and a court-appointed trustee overseeing the liquidation of Madoff's assets.

    The trustee and prosecutors have sought to go after assets to compensate thousands of burned victims who have filed claims against Madoff. How much is available to pay them remains unknown, though it's expected to be only a fraction of the astronomical losses associated with the fraud.

    The $171 billion forfeiture figure used by prosecutors merely mirrors the amount they estimate that, over decades, "flowed into the principal account to perpetrate the Ponzi scheme." The statements sent to investors showing their accounts were worth as much as $65 billion were fiction.

    The investigation has found that in reality, Madoff never made any investments, instead using the money from new investors to pay returns to existing clients — and to finance a lavish lifestyle for his family.

    In bankruptcy filings, Trustee Irving Picard say family members "used customers accounts as though they were their own," putting Madoff's maid, boat captain and house-sitter in Florida on the company payroll and paying nearly $1 million in fees at high-end golf clubs on Long Island and in Florida.

    Picard has sought to reclaim ill-gotten gains by freezing Madoff's business bank accounts and selling legitimate portions of his firm. (Its season tickets for the Mets went for $38,100.) He's also sued big money managers and investors for billions of dollars, claiming they were Madoff cronies who also cashed in on the fraud.

    The defendants include leading philanthropists Stanley Chais and Jeffry Picower — from whom Picard is seeking at least $5.1 billion alleged to have come out of victims' pockets — and hedge fund manager J. Ezra Merkin. All have denied any wrongdoing.

     

    JUSTICE IS SERVED: WHITE FIREFIGHTERS WIN REVERSE DISCRIMINATION CASE...

    The Supreme Court ruled today (Monday) that white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge (story follows my post).  This isn't a ruling where white is favored; it's a ruling where right is favored!

    Congratulations to those firefighters!  May they get the promotions they deserve, the promotions they studied hard for.  For those black firefighters who claim they were "unjustly passed over", may I suggest you open a book and study hard [like these white firefighters did] for what you want, and then you will get it the right way, not the black way.  Civil rights are for everyone, not just minorities, and this is a perfect example of how one-sided civil rights have been for many years.  Do you hear that, Sotomayor?  Here's another one of your verdicts that has been overturned, and they are mounting.  Justice has been served for these white firefighters, with a side order of humble pie for Sotomayor.  Eat up...

    White firefighters win discrimination case; Sotomayor reversed

    WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has ruled that white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge.
     

    New Haven was wrong to scrap a promotion exam because no African-Americans and only two Hispanic firefighters were likely to be made lieutenants or captains based on the results, the court said today in a 5-4 decision. The city said that it had acted to avoid a lawsuit from minorities. The ruling could alter employment practices nationwide, potentially limiting the circumstances in which employers can be held liable for decisions when there is no evidence of intentional discrimination against minorities.

    "Fear of litigation alone cannot justify an employer's reliance on race to the detriment of individuals who passed the examinations and qualified for promotions," Justice Anthony Kennedy said in his opinion for the court. He was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas.

    In dissent, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the white firefighters "understandably attract this court's sympathy. But they had no vested right to promotion. Nor have other persons received promotions in preference to them."

    Justices Stephen Breyer, David Souter and John Paul Stevens signed onto Ginsburg's dissent, which she read aloud in court today.

    Kennedy's opinion made only passing reference to the work of Sotomayor and the other two judges on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals who upheld a lower court ruling in favor of New Haven.

    But the appellate judges have been criticized for producing a cursory opinion that failed to deal with "indisputably complex and far from well-settled" questions, in the words of another appeals court judge, Sotomayor mentor Jose Cabranes.

    "This perfunctory disposition rests uneasily with the weighty issues presented by this appeal," Cabranes said, in a dissent from the full 2nd Circuit's decision not to hear the case.

    Today's decision has its origins in New Haven's need to fill vacancies for lieutenants and captains in its fire department. It hired an outside firm to design a test, which was given to 77 candidates for lieutenant and 41 candidates for captain.

    Fifty-six firefighters passed the exams, including 41 whites, 22 blacks and 18 Hispanics. But of those, only 17 whites and two Hispanics could expect promotion.

    The city eventually decided not to use the exam to determine promotions. It said it acted because it might have been vulnerable to claims that the exam had a "disparate impact" on minorities in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

    The white firefighters said the decision violated the same law's prohibition on intentional discrimination.

    Kennedy said an employer needs a "strong basis in evidence" to believe it will be held liable in a disparate impact lawsuit. New Haven had no such evidence, he said.

    The city declined to validate the test after it was given, a step that could have identified flaws or determined that there were no serious problems with it. In addition, city officials could not say what was wrong with the test, other than the racially skewed results.

    TWO WOLVES: OUR GOVERNMENT IS TAKING FROM US WHAT THEY TOOK FROM THE NATIVE AMERICANS...

    The Cherokee are a member of a Native North American people who once lived in the southeastern United States and now live mainly in Oklahoma and North Carolina.  The Cherokee were one of the Five Civilized Nations who, under the Removal Act of 1830, were sent to live on reservations in Oklahoma.  Andrew Jackson, our 7th president, a Democrat, was vehemently in favor of slavery and abolishing Native Americans from their own land.  Prior to his election, Jackson had been involved with the issue of Native American removal for over ten years.  The removal of the Native Americans to the west of the Mississippi River had been a major part of his political agenda in both the 1824 and 1828 presidential elections.  Something to be proud of, huh?  After his election, he signed the Indian Removal Act into law in 1830.  The Act authorized the president to negotiate treaties to purchase tribal lands in the east in exchange for lands further west, outside of existing U.S. state borders.  Maybe black people should sit and read about what Native Americans endured under the Democrats.  Maybe then it will open their eyes to how great they have it in comparison.  Blacks are not under constant attack like the Native Americans were.  The Democratic wolves didn't stop until their whole livelihood was destroyed, and still they wanted more.  Ironically, black people consistently vote for the same party who once fought to KEEP THEM ENSLAVED.  Today, the Democrats are still enslaving them by making them dependent upon the same government that wanted to keep Native Americans enslaved so long ago.  The difference is that the Native Americans wanted a free country without government intervention as their way of life was great before our government intervened.  With the blacks, they are willing to accept a free ride with government intervention.  It seems some things never change.
     
    There is much wisdom to be learned from Native Americans.  Those of you who know me, know that I strongly admire them for their strength, courage and sage teachings, and our home holds an abundance of the Native American theme.  They are the true Native Americans, and they honored everything in this great country that God put here for them, honoring Him and everything He gave them.  They didn't take anything for granted, and did not waste, as we do today.  They are a people to be admired and emulated, but sadly all was taken away from them by our government.  Why?  Because our greedy government found out there was a wealth in what the Native Americans held dear so to destroy them, our government removed their main means of survival...they hired Buffalo Bill Cody to kill off the buffalo.  I spoke at length about what our government did to the Native Americans in a previous post...GOVERNMENT TO CONDEMN LAND FOR FLIGHT 93 MEMORIAL...
     
    Native Americans were forced by our government to rescind the ways of their people, but the many inspirational words of wisdom they taught their people are still revered today.  Here is a Cherokee Legend that I proudly display in our home...

    ISN'T DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ANOTHER FORM OF DOMESTIC TERRORISM?...

     
    As I write this post, I cry, but my tears are not for a celebrity, they're for children and women who suffer this same fate each and every day...
     
    Nathaniel Turner (Nate), a 7-year-old boy who traveled to Massachusetts to spend the summer with his father, was severely beaten into a coma by him on Father's Day, of all days (story follows my post).  He was later taken off life support after it was assessed that he is brain dead.
     
    Leslie Schuler, the piece of crap who fathered him, begged a judge for visitation.  This worthless piece of crap physically and mentally abused his son after picking him up in Alabama on May 19th.  Schuler drove to Alabama, picked up Nate and took him to Worcester, where he lives with his girlfriend, Tiffany Hyman.

    Lisa Carter, a cousin of Alicia Turner, said Schuler took his son off medication for his attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, insisting he could "handle" the boy.  Turner didn't want him to take Nate off of his meds, but Schuler said, 'I can handle him".  What a pile of human waste this guy is.  Really!

    On Father's Day, Nate suffered severe injuries when Schuler slammed his head into a bedroom wall with such force that it left a dent in the wall to "discipline him", as he stated.  Here's a 7 year-old boy who will never get the chance to grow up, never get the chance to father children himself.  His first-grade teacher at Eufaula Primary School, Kelli Whitehead, said she is devastated the boy will never return to her school. “He was a straight-A student, great all across the board, but particularly strong in math,’’ she said. “He would always give me hugs.’’
     
    Court records show that Schuler told a judge last year that "he had not been given the opportunity to meet his son and build a relationship."  He said he "wanted to be more than a child support check to the boy."  Oh, please!  A judge supposedly never ruled on his request, and court officials say they have no record of a custody order, but relatives say his grandmother was told Schuler had an order giving him custody for the summer.  He had been living with the grandmother in Eufaula, AL, but for some reason, Nathaniel's family did not look into this to see if Schuler was telling the truth.
     
    Court records revealed that Schuler initially questioned whether he was the boy's father, but a judge in Massachusetts filed a judgment of paternity in 2004 and ordered him to pay child support, although it is unclear who received those payments.  It was last year when Schuler asked a judge for visitation rights.  "I have not been given an opportunity to meet the child and build a relationship. No visitation," Schuler wrote. "I would like a chance to become the child's father, not just a paycheck once a week."

    On May 20, a judge dismissed the mother's request for an increase in child support payments after learning she did not have physical custody of Nate. The judge ended Schuler's child support obligations so that rules out him trying to kill his son so he wouldn't have to pay child support, which unfortunately, happens all the time, even to an unborn child while still in the mother's womb, which is the epitome of abuse!
     
    I find this hard to digest because Nate's maternal grandmother, Christine Taylor, raised him virtually since birth because her daughter suffered from mental problems and obtained temporary guardianship of Nate that expired four years ago.  The grandmother stated that she did't think the dad was dangerous even though court records indicate that Schuler has an assault conviction in 2001 involving domestic violence and a pending assault charge in which he allegedly struck another person with a pipe.  With these known facts about his history of domestic violence, why didn't Nate’s grandmother or mother petition a Massachusetts judge to look into this?  A probate and family court judge could then have ordered a criminal background check.  Also, why didn't the judge rule him as a danger to Nate and keep him away from Schuler?  He must have known Schuler's history of abuse.  Another instance where the system just doesn't work.
     
    Turn on the news, and you are likely to hear of a guy who beats or kills his wife, children, girlfriend, girlfriend's family...it's so despicable.  How someone can commit horrible crimes like this is beyond comprehension.  I recently posted a tribute to fathers on Father's Day (HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL FATHERS...), and this happened on that very day.  I purposely left out the fact that many so-called "fathers" commit these dispicable crimes because I really wanted to post a more positive blog on Father's Day, mainly for the men who actually do live up to their roles as husbands and fathers.
     
    The sad part is that there's more of a media spotlight and outpouring of emotions about Michael Jackson dying than about what's been happening in families throughout the world on a daily basis, which is obviously escalating.  Here are the facts, and remember, not every victim of abuse reports it so these statistics are only a portion of the real number of domestic abuse out there:  3,000,000 cases of child abuse and neglect were reported in this country last year, and 2,000 children died as a result of that abuse.  The others suffered in different ways.  They endured emotional trauma.  They were less likely to be ready for school.  They were more likely to have behavior problems, become teen parents, juvenile delinquents, drug and alcohol abusers, and child abusers themselves.  If we want to build a better tomorrow for these helpless victims, we need to award the dirtbags who commit these crimes with more than a slap on the wrist.  Maybe with stricter laws in place, they would think twice before using their families as punching bags.  If I were a judge, I'd make a punching bag out of them just to show them how their victims felt, and maybe punch some sense into them.  That, to me, would be justice.  Some people might say that you shouldn't pit violence against violence, but if you don't, it is the victims who suffer, not the perpetrators.  I don't know if Schuler's girlfriend was present at the time of these beatings, but if she was, may she pay for what she didn't try to stop because that makes her just as guilty of this murder as Schuler.
     
    My thoughts and prayers go out to every family that has suffered from the ravages of abuse, whether it be from a loved one or from a stranger.  May God help heal your wounds over time, and may He also keep you from repeating the same crime onto others, and give you the self-respect and strength you need to overcome the injustices you suffer from so that you will live your life to the fullest, as God intended for all His children.  May you learn from their mistakes and bring up a loving environment for your own families to reduce the domestic abuse that is so rampant.  Just look at these sobering 2006 statistics, although I'm sure when they calculate the statistics to-date, they'll be much higher than this...

    Experts cannot agree on a single reason for this increase, but most attribute it to both a population increase and an increase in reporting.  Other factors that are sometimes cited include changing a wider definition of child abuse, increased reporting requirements, states providing more accurate information, better recording systems, and changes in data collections.   

    It's tough enough to be a kid today, but when they have to hide from their own parents to avoid a fate such as this, something seriously needs to be done.  Stiffer penalties for domestic abuse needs to be put in place so people see it for what it is—another form of domestic terrorism.  Please Report Domestic Violence before it escalates any further.  The life you save could be your child's or your own...

    Murder inquiry begins in Father’s Day beating

    WORCESTER - The family of 7-year-old Nathaniel Turner remained in seclusion yesterday, asking for privacy as they consulted with hospital doctors about when to remove life support for the boy who has already been deemed brain dead after an alleged brutal beating by his father on Father’s Day.

    A court-appointed advocate for Nathaniel has said the family planned to donate his organs, so the timing of the removal of life support may be affected by that decision. The Worcester district attorney’s office also said it has begun a murder investigation, though charges are not expected to be filed for at least a day or two.

    The father - Leslie Schuler, 36, of Worcester, who had petitioned a court for visitation with his son to establish a paternal bond - is behind bars on $250,000 cash bail after being arrested on multiple child abuse charges.

    It remained unclear how the child came to live with Schuler, whom he never knew and who had an extensive criminal record. Though the father had petitioned a judge this year for visitation, court records do not indicate the request was approved, officials said. Also, the state Department of Children and Families, the child protection agency, said yesterday that it had no involvement overseeing the child’s care in different homes during his life.

    It appears the boy’s upbringing was largely determined by informal arrangements within his extended family. The boy’s maternal grandmother, Christine Taylor, raised him virtually since birth, court records show. She took on that role because her daughter suffered from mental problems and obtained temporary guardianship of Nathaniel that expired four years ago. A few years ago, the grandmother took Nathaniel with her when she moved from Worcester to her hometown of Eufaula, Ala.

    This year, the father apparently told the grandmother he had won a court order allowing the boy to join him in Worcester, and the grandmother went along without any indication of his potential for violence, a relative said.

    “She did not think the dad was dangerous,’’ said Gardeen Carter, the boy’s great-aunt who lives in Brewton, Ala.

    Court records indicate that Schuler has an assault conviction in 2001 involving domestic violence and a pending assault charge in which he allegedly struck another person with a pipe.

    If Nathaniel’s grandmother or mother had suspected the father was dangerous or wanted to prevent the boy from being with him, they could have petitioned a Massachusetts judge to investigate his background. A probate and family court judge could then have ordered a criminal background check, though such a check is not automatic in the family courts.

    Nathaniel was brought to St. Vincent’s Hospital Monday by the boy’s father and his girlfriend, Tiffany Hyman, 28.

    Police said the boy was the victim of emotional and physical abuse beginning on May 19, culminating in the fatal beating Sunday.

    The state’s child-protection agency took over legal custody soon after the boy arrived at the hospital, though it returned legal custody to the biological mother after a court hearing Wednesday that paved the way for removal of life support.

    Nathaniel’s first-grade teacher at Eufaula Primary School, Kelli Whitehead, said she is devastated the boy will never return to her school. “He was a straight-A student, great all across the board but particularly strong in math,’’ she said. “He would always give me hugs.’’

    LARGEST MOSQUE IN THE NORTHEAST OPENS ON JUNE 26TH IN BOSTON, MA...

     
    On Friday, June 26, 2009, Boston city and state officials will participate in the opening of the Islamic Society of Boston's Cultural Center (ISBCC) in Roxbury, MA.  This mosque will be the perfect backdrop for Islamic extremists to blend into the crowd.  I have provided a couple of links (below) that give a brief history of the ISBCC's lawsuit against various groups whom it claimed were "defaming" it.
     
     
    When incriminating evidence started to surface, the ISBCC conveniently dropped its case, but they got what they wanted in the end...prime real estate in the City of Boston at a discount price.  Is this the extremists' way of marking their territory?
     
    I don't have a problem with the opening of a place of worship, but I do have a problem when they are offered a severe reduction in price for the land parcel when they have more money than they can count.  They paid just $175,000 to the Boston Redevelopment Authority, even though the property is said to be worth nearly $500,000.  I'm thinking that Boston will recoup their losses in the form of new taxes for us, the taxpayers of Massachusetts.  We'll be paying in more ways than one...

    Formal opening of Roxbury mosque, two days of events set for this month

    The long-awaited, much-debated new mosque in Roxbury Crossing is scheduled formally to open at the end of this month.

    The Muslim American Society, which is operating the new Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, or ISBCC, has scheduled two days of events to celebrate the completion of the building. The building had a soft opening last fall, during Ramadan, and has been in use since then, but the events on June 26 and 27 mark its formal inauguration as the Muslim community prepares to expand programming in the building. Major inaugural events will include an interfaith breakfast at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, across the street from the mosque; a ribbon-cutting, call-to-worship, and prayer service at the mosque; and a celebratory dinner at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. The dinner will feature a speech by US Representative Keith Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat who is the first Muslim to serve in Congress; the breakfast will feature William A. Graham, Harvard Divinity School dean and a noted scholar of Islam, as well as a variety of local religious leaders. Mosque officials say they expect Governor Deval Patrick to attend the breakfast and Mayor Thomas M. Menino to attend the ribbon-cutting.

    "I see this as continuing the historic role that Boston has played in the cultural and religious history of America," said Bilal Kaleem of the Muslim American Society. "This is where the Pilgrims landed and where a lot of the country's first churches are, and we really see Muslim history in America having one of its key moments here."

    Kaleem argued that the ISBCC is different from other mosques in America because it is located in the city rather than the suburbs and because in addition to serving as a mosque, it aspires to function as a community center with a mission of "integrating Muslims into active civic life."

    The 68,000-square-foot mosque has a capacity of about 3,000 worshipers and is already drawing about 600 to Friday worship, Kaleem said. The mosque has been in the works for nearly 20 years, has cost about $15.6 million so far, and has been riven by controversy and litigation over a variety of comments and organizational affiliations of mosque backers as well as over the city's role in providing the land for the mosque.

    Defenders of the mosque have suggested that the criticism is intensified, if not motivated, by bias; critics of the mosque have said they have legitimate concerns about the associations and ideas of its leaders.

    AN ANIMAL'S LIFE SEEMS TO BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN A HUMAN'S LIFE...

     
    With all the crimes that are commited by the NFL, one has to wonder if NFL really stands for Network For Losers.  Case in point...
     
    Take just two recent scenarios where you have two NFL players making multi-millions (I posted more NFLosers which follow these two)...
     
    One is Donte Stallworth, Cleveland Browns Wide Receiver... 
     

    Stallworth signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Cleveland Browns before last season, but was injured much of the year, so in essence, they paid him $5 million for sitting on the sidelines.  On March 13, 2009, Stallworth received a $4.75 million roster bonus.  If you think that's a deal of a lifetime, think again.  Stallworth then went out to celebrate, drinking all night at a club, got behind the wheel of his Bentley instead of calling a cab or getting someone to drive him home, and killed a pedestrian, Mario Reyes.  Here's where the deal of a lifetime comes in...he received just 30 days from the state of Florida despite killing a pedestrian in a DUI incident, and if you think that was a slap in the face, read on...

    Stallworth faced 15 years in prison.  According to the plea agreement, Stallworth needs to serve only 24 days of his 30-day sentence.  Murphy agreed to give Stallworth "credit" for the one day he already served, April 2, which was the day of his arrest and booking.  In addition, Stallworth received an additional "five days of credit" because of a Florida state statute stating anyone who is sentenced to 30 days (besides civil, contempt, drug treatment and house arrest cases) automatically gets five days' credit time served for every 30 days.  So, you don't get 5 days of credit for contempt or civil cases, but in this case, Stallworth gets "five days of credit" because he drank all night, got behind the wheel of his pricey black Bentley, and killed 59-year old Mario Reyes who was on his way home from work at 7 in the morning.  Where the heck is the justice for the victim?  After his release from jail, Stallworth must also serve two years of house arrest and spend eight years of probation.  Big deal!  He can then be allowed to resume his football career.  What about poor Reyes who not only cannot resume his construction career, but he won't be able to resume his 20-year marriage to his wife or resume fathering his 15-year old daughter anymore!  This is plain dispicable!
     

    The other is Michael Vick, former NFL quarterback...
     
    I chose this picture because this is how Vick appears most of the time, mocking the same people who made him a celebrity.  A search warrant executed on April 25, 2007 as part of a drug investigation of Vick's cousin Davon Boddie led to discovery of evidence of unlawful dog fighting activities at Vick's 15-acre property in rural Surry County in Virginia with extensive facilities which had apparently been developed for that purpose.  In July of 2007, Vick and three other men were charged by federal authorities with felony charges of operating an unlawful 6-year long interstate dog fighting venture known as "Bad Newz Kennels". Vick was accused and convicted of financing the operation, directly participating in dog fights and executions, and personally handling thousands of dollars in related gambling activities.  Gruesome details involving abuse, torture and execution of under-performing dogs galvanized animal rights activists and expressions of public outrage.  Vick received a 23-month sentence.  Ironically, a year after he was charged, this multi-million dollar earner with several multi-million dollar endorsements filed for bankruptcy.  It appears that it's him who's on the receiving end of his vulgar gesture.
     
    We see it more and more every day...people are outraged that someone would mistreat or kill an animal, but they are more tolerant when the victim is a human being.  What boggles the mind is that there are stiffer sentences when crimes are against animals, and when celebrities break the law, they are allowed more leniency than everyone else.  The sentence given to Stallworth undermines the fight for justice for victims of vehicular crimes.  It undermines the public's perception of fairness in the criminal judicial system.  Whether it is accurate or not, this sentence gives the appearance that another wealthy celebrity was given preferential treatment.  Add to that the fact that Stallworth reached a private financial settlement with the Reyes family, so like most overrated, overpaid arrogant celebrities, Stallworth bought his freedom.  Why the Reyes family took blood money from him is beyond my comprehension.  His actions caused someone to lose their life and he should have paid with more jail time, not by giving blood money to the victim's family.  Losers like him are rampant not only in the NFL, but among celebrities, in general.  Most often, they get a free pass because of their celebrity status, which only exacerbates their cockiness.  Unfortunately, in our society, sports and movie celebrities make millions, get greedy and arrogant, and are the worse offenders.  Because of the money they receive because of adoring fans, they use that money to buy their way out of the messes they get into, and in the long run, don't learn any values at all.  All you have to do is look at the Hollywood of yesterday and how it morphed into the Hollywood we see today...riddled with lots of drunks, druggies, with out-of-control egos, out-of-control spending, with non-existent ethics.
     
    Stallworth will only serve 24 days of his 30-day sentence for killing Reyes which is a slap on the wrist, while Reyes received a death sentence for crossing the street to catch a bus after working all night.  Justice must be dead as well...

    Tank Johnson (NFL), December 2006
    • Lineman was arrested at his home in suburban Chicago and charged with six counts of possessing an unlicensed gun. Johnson was on probation for a previous weapons charge. Sentenced to house arrest, 4 months in jail for probation violation, fined $2,500, suspended one game by the NFL. Was later suspended 8 games by the NFL for additional legal trouble and released by the Bears.

    Ugueth Urbina Ugueth Urbina (MLB), November 2005
    • Relief pitcher was arrested by Venezuelan authorities on a charge of attempted murder. Allegedly attacked five farm workers on his property and tried to injure them both with a machete and by attempting to pour gasoline on them. Was convicted in March 2007 of attempted murder and other charges. Sentenced to 14 years in prison, ending his professional baseball career.

    Jamal Lewis (NFL), February 2004
    • Running back was indicted on federal drug charges involving a drug deal in summer 2000. Was charged with conspiring to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute and using a cell phone in the commission of the crime. Pleaded guilty to using a cell phone to set up a drug deal. Spent 4 months in prison, suspended 2 games by the NFL.

     Leonard Little (NFL), October 1998

    •  Drank and drove his SUV into Susan Gutweiler's car. A wife and mother, she died the next day. The Rams put Little on paid leave. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and served 90 days in jail, four years' probation and 1,000 hours of community service. Then NFL stated that Little could play in training camp and preseason games but was banned without pay for the first eight regular-season games. That half-season suspension cost him roughly $125,000.

    •  Celtics guard was convicted of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crime in the hit-and-run deaths of two Boston University students. Sentenced to 4½ years in prison, he was acquitted of the more serious charge of manslaughter. Smith returned to the NBA for the 1995-96 season and played 8 games with the Wolves.

    Craig MacTavish (NHL), May 1984
    •  Was convicted of vehicular homicide while a member of the Bruins. While drunk, he rear-ended a car, causing it to skid into a parking lot, where it hit two more cars and overturned. The other driver died days later. Served one year in prison. MacTavish played 14 NHL seasons following his year in prison and has coached the Oilers since the beginning of the 2000-01 season.

    CHAIR WORKOUT FOR THE DESK-BOUND...

     
    If you have a desk job, your body suffers from a lack of exercise, in spite of your good intentions out of the office.  Some solutions that I have followed myself is to take a walk over to a co-worker's desk instead of sending an email or making a phone call to them.  Take a short brisk walk on your lunch break, then when you return to the office, eat your lunch leisurely while you work.  Take the stairs instead of the elevator.  Park your vehicle further away from your company's entrance.  While you're on the phone, stand up and walk around instead of sitting at your desk.  Throughout the day, stand up and sit down in your chair for a count of 20 each time to work your quads.  Take a healthy lunch to work instead of doing takeout.  Not only will you keep more money in your pocket, you'll add years to your life as well.  Don't rely on the candy machine for a quick sugar-filled snack, only to suffer from the crash that always accompany them, take a walk around the office as a healthy alternative.  It's a fact that exercise increases energy, so don't soak your money into those high-priced energy drinks.  Take some low-calorie snacks from home and keep a stash in your desk to squelch hunger.     
     
    If you're tied to your desk a good portion of the day, here are some exercises from trainer Joel Harper that help stretch and strengthen your body.  You may do head rolls when your boss adds more to your workload, but they're also good at reducing stress.  The same can be said for sitting up straight while deep breathing...

    Five months later, and Obama has succeeded on what he campaigned for...change, but I'm betting it's not the kind of change most of you voted for.  I didn't vote for him because I saw right through his carefully scripted words and cheap shots at the previous administration.  If Obama worked in the real world and ran a company the way he's running this country, he would have been given his walking papers a long time ago...

    HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL FATHERS...

     
    In honor of all fathers, past, present and soon-to-be, I would like to wish you a very Happy Father's Day.  In the world we now live in, there's temptation around every low road, and when I see a man who is married with children take the high road, I can't help but respect him.  They take their role as husband and father seriously, and I find that incredibly admirable.  I think that when a man stays on the straight and narrow, he feels a strong sense of pride, and that pride translates to his family, and it shows in the faces of his loved ones.  That, to me, is a man; that, to me, is a father.  They seem to be a dying breed, for some reason.  There's more single-parent families today, and more often than not, it's the guys who leave their families behind.  Maybe they think the grass will be greener in another pasture, but what most of them find is just a generic version of what they left behind.  Fatherhood is certainly not easy, but something worth having is never easy.  I don't have any children, but I can always tell a happy family when I see one.  Dads unknowingly shape their children's world with their actions; their actions are learned and emulated by their children.  That's a heavy load, but if you instill the values you learned into your children, you will be leaving quite a legacy behind.  Children need someone they can look up to, and that honor most times will fall upon the dad.
     
    For all of you dads out there who create a happy and loving home life for your families, you are to be applauded.  It's hard work, and dads who sacrifice for their families learn that through love, patience and hard work, you can be the richest dad in the world, even if you only have a few bucks in your pocket.  You are the lucky ones because there's nothing greater that being a part of a loving and caring family.  You can't put a price on that.
     
    As far as the fathers who chose to leave their families behind, I feel sorry for you.  You will never know the joys of being a father if you're absent from them.  Maybe some of you left your families because "you just couldn't take it anymore", "you needed some time, some space" or "you weren't happy".  May I offer a little bit of advice?  If you really want to be happy, don't run away from your responsibilities as a husband and a father because the rewards are too enormous to toss aside.  If you want to start building a better tomorrow, you need to start with your own family today. 
     
    So today is your day...Father's Day.  Embrace it and all the wonderful rewards associated with it, and know that your family will be stronger because of you.  The way I see it, any guy can make children, but it takes a man to bring them up.  That's a quote from yours truly, and here are some quotes about fathers from others...

    KILLING OF FOREIGNERS IN YEMEN ATTRIBUTED TO EX-GITMO DETAINEE?...

     
    Here's a sampling of the despicable results that come from releasing Gitmo detainees, and this is just the beginning...
     
    Nine foreigners—four German adults, three small German children, a British man and a South Korean woman—were abducted on June 12 after they ventured outside the city of Saada without their required police escorts.  Days later, the bodies of Rita Stumpp and Anita Gruenwald, German nurses in training, and Eom Young-sun of South Korea were found shot execution style in the Noshour Valley in the province of Saada.
     
    No one has claimed responsibility for the abductions and murders, but experts say killing women and children is considered off-limits among many jihadist groups—though not to al-Shihri, a Saudi national who was released from Guantanamo in November of 2007 and sent to a Saudi Arabian "rehabilitation" program for jihadists.  It wasn't long before a "cured" al-Shihri was released from the program, crossed into Yemen and rejoined Al Qaeda, with whom he quickly rose to deputy commander.
     
    Incidentally, the Obama administration is negotiating with Yemen over the possible release of the more than 100 Yemeni nationals currently behind bars in Gitmo to Saudi Arabia’s rehabilitation program—the same one al-Shihri attended.  This is sure to end up being a foolish move, and could result in catastrophic results.
     
    If you think Obama's plan to close Gitmo and release all prisoners upon this world won't have dire consequences, think again.  He has opened up Pandora's box on the world by releasing these heathens who have no regard for human life, and who hide behind a religious cult bent on destroying everything in their path.  These renegades are allowed to destroy human life because we now have an administration who say that they can be helped with kind words and kind actions.  I've got news for Obama and his powder puffs...this is not a 50s sitcom we're in.  He likes to be in front of a camera, and with his recent press conferences, he likes being in the spotlight telling jokes, but I have news for him...he's fast becoming a joke himself.  This is the real world, and kind words fall on deaf ears as far as these radical Islamists are concerned.  If these extremists return to the battlefield, you can all blame the childish, inexperienced moves on Obama.  He won't be able to blame Bush for his blunders.  Look where three Gitmo detainees ended up?  Bermuda of all places!  They're living high on the hog...results from a subsidy of the big pork farm Obama has built since he took office.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if these criminals know they will be put into a cute little beach-front cottage, their actions will only escalate, knowing they will not suffer the consequences.  Obama is soft on terrorism, and they all know it. 
     
    In spite of what the media says about Obama, he will not be able to stop them with his words, but America can stop them by taking a firm stance in abolishing their wicked regime.  You can't fight these morons with words.  Nobody likes war, but it's the only way to deal with the likes of these terrorists...a word the Obama administration refuses to use.  Forget about using the term "man-made disasters".  It is now becoming Obama disasters.  These terrorists are becoming more violent because they now know that Obama is not going to be tough on them.  Even North Korea has mocked Obama since he took office...something they muted while Bush was in office.  This is the world we now live in, and all we have is the powder puff gang leading us with olive branches.  I guess this is what Obama meant by bringing "change" to America.  Is this the change that most of you voted for?  Are you still happy with this clown?  You may laugh at his scripted idiotic jokes, but this is not a laughing matter anymore once you take a closer look now, is it?  God help us all...

    Slaughter of Foreigners in Yemen Bears Mark of Former Gitmo Detainee, Say Experts

    Said Ali al-Shihri, deputy leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, was released from Guantanamo Bay in 2007. Terror experts fear his involvement in recent kidnappings and murders in Yemin.
     

    The fate of three of nine foreigners abducted in Yemen last week is known — their bodies were found, shot execution style. The whereabouts of the other six — including three children under the age of 6 — remain a mystery.

    But terrorism experts say their abductors and killers are almost certainly not a mystery. They say the crimes bear the mark of Al Qaeda, and they fear they are the handiwork of the international terror organization's No. 2 man in the Arabian Peninsula: Said Ali al-Shihri, an Islamic extremist who once was in American custody — but who was released from the U.S. detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

    And if al-Shihri is behind the gruesome murders and abductions, they say, it raises grave concerns that the scheduled January 2010 closing of the Guantanamo prison and the release of most of its prisoners to foreign countries will galvanize Al Qaeda and compromise American national security.

    The nine foreigners — four German adults, three small German children, a British man and a South Korean woman — were abducted on June 12 after they ventured outside the city of Saada without their required police escorts, according to a spokesman from the Yemeni Embassy in Washington. Days later the bodies of Rita Stumpp and Anita Gruenwald, German nurses in training, and Eom Young-sun of South Korea were found shot execution style in the Noshour Valley in the province of Saada, an area known to be a hotbed of Al Qaeda activity.

    Stumpp and Gruenwald attended a Bible school, and Young attended a Christian missionary school in South Korea. Other members of the group had ties to missionary organizations, and all six adults worked for World Wide Services Foundation, a Dutch international medical relief group.

    No one has claimed responsibility for the abductions and murders, but experts say killing women and children is considered off-limits among many jihadist groups — though not to al-Shihri, a Saudi national who was released from Guantanamo in November 2007 and sent to a Saudi Arabian "rehabilitation" program for jihadists. It wasn't long before a "cured" al-Shihri was released from the program, crossed into Yemen and rejoined Al Qaeda, with whom he quickly rose to deputy commander.

    In addition to last week's kidnappings, he is believed to have been behind the September attacks that left 16 dead at the U.S. Embassy in the Yemeni capital of San'a.

    “This bears the marks of al-Shihri’s activity and bears the signs of his beliefs and assumptions of his behavior that are not viewed by other jihadists,” said Robert Spencer, terror expert and director of Jihad Watch, referring to the killing of women and presumed killing of the three small children.

    Defense officials said that "while there is suspicion that Said Ali al-Shihri is involved in these latest attacks, we can't confirm it."

    “There is great presumption of his involvement, but it’s not open and shut,” Spencer said.

    “If he believed that these people picnicking in Yemen were aiding in the war against Islam, then he can justify these killings as legitimate — it’s this kind of perspective that this guy holds to, that it’s right to kill people who would normally be considered off-limits,” Spencer said.

    “Christians aren’t allowed to proselytize in the Muslim world, and if that’s what was going on here ... well then, there you go.”

    Gregory Johnsen, the editor of a forthcoming book, "Islam and Insurgency in Yemen," agreed. “The most likely scenario is that Al Qaeda’s responsible," he said. "And if it does turn out that Al Qaeda is responsible, then it would be that al-Shihri had a hand in the operation whether behind the scenes or up front.”

    And that involvement is an ominous sign for critics, who say the release of detainees from Guantanamo, under President Obama's plan to close the detention center by January 2010, could lead to future and more severe terrorist attacks.

    The United States is negotiating with Yemen, according to Mohammed Albasha, spokesman for Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Washington, over the possible release of the more than 100 Yemeni nationals currently behind bars in Gitmo to Saudi Arabia’s rehabilitation program — the same one al-Shihri attended.

    Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Ranking Member on the House Homeland Security Committee, opposes closing Gitmo and says Obama is rushing "helter skelter" to find homes for the remaining detainees to meet his "arbitrary deadline," which he says may come at the cost of national security.

    “The president’s policies are very very disturbing. He appears to have decided to close Guantanamo without any idea of where these detainees are going to go and is now trying desperately to find countries and places for these people to go,” King told FOXNews.com.

    “By far largest number of detainees comes from Yemen, and they are hardcore dangerous people. Sending them back to Yemen, where prisoners who have been held there before somewhere magically escaped from prison, and is in many ways the centerpiece of the Al Qaeda movement — returning them to Yemen is just inviting disaster.

    "Sending them to Saudi Arabia to the rehabilitation center is just putting off the inevitable threat to the United States,” King said. “I am very concerned that these prisoners will soon be back in the battlefield hurting Americans.”

    BADGE OF SHAME: EX-PHILLY COP CONVICTED IN $40K DRUG THEFT...

    Malik Snell, a former Philadelphia police officer, is convicted of using his badge to rob drug dealers and stash houses from Philadelphia to Pottstown, PA.  He's convicted of robbing a drug kingpin of $40,000 cash and participating in a home-invasion robbery.

    Of course, Snell said he was the unwitting getaway driver for a brother-in-law in the March 2008 home-invasion attempt in suburban Pottstown.  He crashed the car in Pottstown after leading police on a high-speed chase.  For the robbery charge, Snell told jurors he did not flash a badge and rob the dealer during a traffic stop.  A federal jury decided Monday night to convict the 36-year-old Snell of all charges he faced.  Previously, two federal juries have deadlocked on the charges while acquitting Snell of a weapons charge and of threatening the dealer.  The Marine Corps veteran, an 11-year officer, has been in custody for a year.  Way to throw your good name down the toilet.  He won't be able to hide behind his badge anymore.  Thank God most officers aren't as corrupt as politicians.  Here's a little background on the case...

    BARBARA BOXER RAISES THE GLOVES TO DEFEND HER TITLE...

     
    At a recent EPW hearing, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) really outdid herself.  Brigadier General Michael Walsh, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was testifying on the Louisiana coastal restoration process in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.  He began to answer one of Boxer's questions with 'ma'am' when Boxer immediately cut him off.  Boxer interrupted: "Do me a favor," she said, "could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am?'  It's just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it, yes, thank you."  (story follows video).
     
    Somebody in her camp must have told her that her bout with Walsh was a little over the top because she ended up calling Walsh later.  They had a "friendly" conversation, expressed their respect for each other and talked about how they look forward to working together to protect communities from natural disasters.
     
    Hmmm...Did Boxer forgot that she, herself, addressed former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice in a similar fashion, and just about chastised Rice for being childless?  Boxer called Rice 'Madam' three different times during testimony when Rice appeared before the Senate in defense of Bush's tactical change in Iraq back in 2007.
     

    "Who pays the price?  I'm not going to pay a personal price," Boxer said. "My kids are too old, and my grandchild is too young."

    Then, to Rice, she said: "You're not going to pay a particular price, as I understand it, with an immediate family."

    What a sucker punch that was!  Boxer apparently believes that an accomplished, seasoned diplomat, a renowned scholar and an adviser to two presidents like Rice is not fully qualified to make policy at the highest levels of the American government because she is a single, childless woman.  What if these comments were directed to a female Democratic Secretary of State from a female Republican Senator?  There would have been a media frenzy and a public outcry from fellow Democrats.  This scenario sounds so familiar, doesn't it?  (think Sotomayor's "Latina woman" comment against white male justices).  Apparently, only the Democrats are isolated from scrutiny when it comes to delivering left-handed jabs to another political party.  If there is any justice in this world, the Democrats' reigning party days will soon be over.

    It may appear that Boxer is defending her title here, and some of you may agree with her saying she's exercising her right.  Well, if that is true, then maybe Brigadier General Michael Walsh should have exercised the same right by telling Boxer that she ought to call him Brigadier General, a title he has earned.

    I have one thing to say to "The Boxer":  Take off the gloves; you obviously don't fill them...

    In case you forgot, Barbara Boxer is a senator. 

    The feisty California lawmaker felt the need to remind an Army brigadier general of that fact Tuesday during a hearing before her Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, where the military officer testifying had the apparent gall to call Boxer "ma'am." 

    Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was testifying on the Louisiana coastal restoration process in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He began to answer one of Boxer's questions with "ma'am" when Boxer immediately cut him off. 

    "You know, do me a favor," an irritated Boxer said. "Could say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am?'"

    "Yes, ma'am," Walsh interjected.

    "It's just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it, yes, thank you," she said. 

    "Yes, senator," he responded. 

    YOU DECIDE: Super Sensitive or Right On?

    However, Walsh surely meant no disrespect, as military protocol advises that officers may use "sir" or "ma'am" when addressing anybody higher than them on the chain of command. 

    "We would call them 'sir' or 'ma'am' or 'senator such-and-such'," Army spokesman Lt. Col. Nathan Banks said. Banks said any of those terms would be "appropriate" when addressing a senator.  

    According to one guide, the Navy and Coast Guard typically use "mister" or "miss" to address officers below the rank of commander, and "sir" or "ma'am," or a specific title, to address anyone at that rank or higher. 

    "You can never go wrong by using 'Sir' or 'Ma'am,' but it is a nice touch if you can properly address a senior officer," says the guide, Military Protocol: Uniformed Services. 

    A rep for Boxer said she and Walsh later spoke and discussed their respect for each other. 

    "Senator Boxer called Brigadier General Walsh earlier today. They had a friendly conversation, expressed their respect for each other and talked about how they look forward to working together to protect our communities from natural disasters."

    Tuesday's hearing was hardly the first time a military officer used those terms during sworn testimony. 

    The same day at a Senate Armed Services subcommittee hearing, two Navy officials repeatedly referred to Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., with the title, "sir." 

    "Yes, sir," Navy Vice Adm. Bernard McCullough said when answering questions. 

    Wicker raised no objections.
